India – EAEU FTA

A Joint Feasibility Study Group (JFSG) Report on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) & its Member States and the Republic of India was officially adopted at the highest levels of policy making in India and the Eurasian Economic Union. The study focused assessing the potential gains from the proposed Free Trade Agreement between India and the member states of Eurasian Economic Union. Further, with reference to the recommendations of the JKFSG Report the Trade, Commerce and Industry Ministers of both sides mandated to commence negotiations on India-EAEU Comprehensive FTA. 

Centre for Regional Trade has been engaged with Stakeholders’ Consultations that were held by the Department of Commerce, GOI, in collaboration with State Governments that were held to sensitize the private sector and take their feedback. These consultations were held at different venues in India including New Delhi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Thiruvanantpuram, Chennai, Vijaywada, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Kolkata and Guwahati. Further study is ongoing to support the negotiating process.
